Barkcloth is a traditional craft of the Mbuti people from the Inturi Forest in Democratic Republic of the Congo. Men harvest the inner bark of native trees and pound it into a delicately textured surface on which women paint, with natural dyes, abstract motifs inspired by all aspects of life in the forest.
