The John Robshaw fabric line is hand block printed in India by skilled artisans, using traditional printing methods. The fabrics are stretched out on long tables and printed using hand-carved wooden blocks. After the fabric is printed, the artisan must wash the fabric several times to remove any excess color, which may have bled during the printing process. Thoroughly washing the fabric ensures its quality at the end of production. These printing methods lead to restrictions in the maximum length of fabric that can be printed in one piece. Each fabric has a maximum cut length, which guarantees that the finished product meets our high standard of quality. In addition, due to the process of block printing by hand, pattern repeats are approximate and variations in color may occur. We consider this part of the inherent beauty of the artistic process and the resulting product.
