Oasis

A Haven for Women and Children is a nonprofit organization located in Paterson, New Jersey that serves some 700 impoverished women and children every day. Oasis carries out educational, vocational, and social service programs that help local women enter and succeed in the workforce. and help children flourish academically. Oasis operates a soup kitchen and provides emergency food, clothing, and social services support to city residents in need.

Oasis opened its doors in 1997 to provide meal services to poor women and children. At that time, children living in poverty in Paterson were not allowed in soup kitchens for a daily hot meal. Now, more than 22 years later, Oasis provides breakfast and lunch daily as well as all the wrap-around services women and child need to escape the cycle of poverty.

The mission of Oasis is to change the lives of women and children by breaking the cycle of poverty through compassionate programs designed to feed, clothe, educate, and empower women and children in need.
